Selling My Website

Before I sold my first website at Sitepoint, there are a list of things that I jot down from studying other seller’s listings, especially the ones that got bids or were sold off.

From the auction’s listing headline to the bonuses I give away when buyers buy at BIN price, I made sure that I showcase the best facts and features of the website in selling my website.

First off, the listing headline need to capture people’s interest right off the bat. There are many websites listed in a day and if you do not have a great headline, your listing may descend to obscurity at page number 7, never getting a passing look by potential buyers. Not to mention that generally 50% listing would not even get a look, let alone sold.

What you need to do is to showcase the great facts of your website on the headline, and expand the features in the body of the listing.

Say, if you want to sell a woodworking website, with a high PR and earning, you may want to advertise as such: Woodworking hobby niche, PR2 earning $50 monthly Adsense. That certainly look better than just: Hobby website for sale.

Now, I know the example is actually for Established Website, but consider this:Clickbank-ready, hot Dating website, sell your own $47 ebook.

That is a startup website and usually fetch for more than $500.

And below is a sample of a blog which sold for $200 from the Startup Website section too.
Premium themed diet blog, SEO-ready $35 CPA payout.

As for the sub headline, you may add in secondary facts, or features, like BIN bonuses, free hosting and such.

In my next posting I will delve more into the remaining components that I used to selling my website.
